Dental Implants
Implants that feel strong and stable without discomfort
Day after day, you brush and brush and floss, and nothing happens. The pain is still there.
Maybe you’ve had problems for as far as you can remember. Many battle with bad teeth for decades before finally doing something about it.
Whether it’s due to age, poor eating habits, or oral hygiene issues, each of these can play a part in why tooth loss is a common problem in adults.
How big a part?
Well, the rise of aesthetic dentistry, plus fancy new technologies, have catapulted the dental implant market to $3.6 billion dollars in 2020 alone.
But here’s the problem: just because it’s more common, doesn’t make it less embarrassing.
Deep down, the thought of not having teeth just sinks your confidence.
What if there was a long-term solution?
One that’s near-permanent.
One that lets you enjoy eating and talking without worry.
One that gives you a smile you actually want to show off.
This is where dental implants come in.
What are dental implants?
It’s a metal fixture, usually titanium, that connects directly to the jawbone making it super durable. Then a connector, or an abutment, is placed on top. It connects the jawbone to the crown (aka the replacement tooth) making it fit and function just like a real tooth would.
And that is a huge perk.
Patients who have missing teeth or need chronic dental services tend to favor dental implants more than short-term solutions like dentures or bridges. Regardless of your history, we can work with you to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth, or a full set.
We’ll have a better idea of how to move forward after your initial dental exam.
What can I expect during the procedure?
This usually involves two separate dental procedures.
First, implants are placed in your jawbone.
Then we’ll wait about 3-6 months after surgery which allows for the gradual bonding with the jawbone.
You should be able to wear temporary dentures and eat a soft diet during this time.
The second procedure has Dr. Daniel attaching small posts that go through the gums to act as anchors for the crown.
Once the crown (aka replacement teeth) is placed on top, you won’t be able to see its posts underneath.
How painful are dental implants?
Local anesthesia numbs the nerves surrounding the dental implant area. With this, you should not feel any pain during your dental implant procedure.
There may be a bit of pressure at times, but it should not cause discomfort.
The entire healing process usually takes six to eight months.
What are the benefits of dental implants?
Acts like natural teeth
Most patients can’t tell the difference between their natural teeth and the implant tooth. Chew food and talk with full confidence.
Super long-lasting
The implant is made from titanium and fuses into your jawbone. It’s bio-compatible, meaning it’s non-toxic and the body won’t reject it as easily. This makes it a powerful alternative to dentures.
Prevents bone loss
The empty space inside the jawbone can start to deteriorate due to the lack of stimulation. If no implant is placed in the first year of losing a tooth, that bone area loses 25% of its volume, and bone loss continues over the years.
Prevents gum disease
Implants prevent food and bacteria from building up in tooth gaps, which can often lead to gum disease.
Prevents facial sagging
Bone loss resulting from missing teeth can cause the lower part of the face to collapse. Over time, the distance between the tip of the nose and the chin can get smaller.
